Welcome to my corner, where I get to indulge in all things beauty-related without judgment from Kampung Boy =) For my first post I thought I'd share my purchases from a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur. Now I have to be honest about something. For most of my life I've treated Asian beauty products with derision and disdain, believing such products were sub-standard and cheap. I guess it was because a lot of the time I couldn't take the cutesy packaging seriously and perhaps I was just ignorant about Asia in general. I know it seems odd that as an Asian myself, I should be buying products that are catered for Asian faces. But in my (stupid) belief, I felt that the Western world were lightyears ahead of anything Asians could produce. Boy had I ever been more wrong. I'm not really sure the point where I suddenly became a champion of Korean beauty products, but as I walked around Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur I couldn't help but be intrigued at the TonyMoly and Etude House that had just moved in. So of course I made a cursory google search on whether these brands were any good (my expectations at an all time low), but instead I was blown away at the rave reviews and the fanatic following Korean cosmetics and skincare. Which leads me to here, after having trawled through the main Korean "roadshops" in Kuala Lumpur, I've come back to New Zealand with a bag full of must-haves to test and review. Left to Right: Innisfree Capsule Sleeping Pack (Rice); Innisfree Super volcanic pore clay mask; Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in PK002; Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur; Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion in Natural Beige; Innisfree Apple Juicy Emulsion Lip & Eye Remover; Innisfree Wine Jelly Sleeping Pack; Innisfree Orchid Enriched Cream (sample); Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in PK018; Innisfree The green tea seed serum; Skinfood Strawberry Black Sugar Mask Wash-off; and Innisfree Capsule Massage Pack (Canola Honey). So as you can see there are a lot of products to get through! I'm looking forward to trying these out to determine if Korean beauty products are the real deal and if they make any difference on my skin.
Stay tuned! Kiwi Girl xx
