I wouldn't say I have the world's most calloused feet, but I did want to try this product out as a cheaper alternative to the infamous Baby Foot. I've been warned not to use this during summer when your feet are usually encased in jandals/flip flops/thongs (depending on where you hail from) as the peeling might freak ordinary folk out. However I had a few weeks of free time on my hands and decided if the peeling was going to get really bad then I'll just sacrifice excellent footwear choices for boots...really, the things I do to save people from things that once seen, cannot be unseen. Instructions: Basically you just need to wear the two plastic bag socks on your feet, then pour the liquid in the sachet into each of the socks. Tie up the socks so that they fit snugly around your ankles and leave for around 90 minutes. When time's up, just wash your feet gently with water. Results: As with a lot of these foot peeling treatments, you won't see any difference until roughly (get it? Sorry I couldn't resist) 1 week later. This was true enough of the Holika Holika one. However, I'll spare you the horrific pictures of my shedding feet, but just know that this stuff works. [Click here for BuzzFeed's photos of the results of Baby Foot if you're that way inclined]. For about 5 days my feet slowly sloughed off the outer layer of skin which helped soften some of the roughness. It was SUPREMELY SATISFYING for USD 5.50. I would say though that because the liquid touches mainly the soles of your feet, you won't get much peeling action on the tops of your feet. Tip: Don't try to peel the skin before it's ready (as tempting as it is), you could end up peeling too deep and it'll be painful. Final Thoughts? Honestly although I appreciated that this treatment did the job, I was expecting far greater results. Maybe because I too saw the pictures by BuzzFeed and expected my feet to be baby soft at the end of it. However I felt that this formulation just wasn't heavy duty enough and removed only a very fine layer of skin. Anyhow Holika Holika recommends using this treatment once every 6 months for heavily calloused feet. I'd definitely try foot peeling treatments again, but only if I can get my hands on the original Baby Foot in this far flung country of mine. On that note I'll end, Kiwi Girl xx

I mentioned previously that I received a couple of samples from the lovely people at Rose Rose Shop along with my order on eBay. Now I'm a total newbie when it comes to the world of essences as part of a skincare routine. I only just discovered these magic elixirs when I tried Estee Lauder's Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion (which might I add, is totally worth it if you have an arm and a leg to spare!). When To Use: Essences tend to be used after toning if you're subscribing to the whole Korean skincare ritual. However I prefer to use this in place of toner (mostly because I ain't got no time to be slathering on lotion after potion) so long as it's done after I've double cleansed. This ensures your skin is super clean and ready to absorb all the nutrients from the essence. So anyway after having been blown away but the effect essences have on my skin tone and texture, I was really excited to try what upcoming brand Neulii has to offer. I received two kinds: Teatree BHA Blemish Control Serum "A Serum containing natural BHA and tea tree ingredient, arranging sebum control and dead skin cells to prevent skin trouble." I was looking forward to trying this out first because, although I hate to admit it, at 24 I still get breakouts particularly around my chin when that time of the month rolls around. So I was hoping this serum would act as a preventive measure from this month's war on my face. The serum reminds me of a classic toner, it's a lot more runny and hence easier to spread on a cotton pad. There isn't a strong smell at all, and you don't need a lot to cover your face. Thoughts: Unfortunately I didn't see too much of a difference in my skin to rave home about. I did however feel my skin was a lot softer after use and my dry, sensitive skin lapped up the moisture it provided. So although it's targeted at oily skin, I would think it's gentle enough to use on all skin types. Aloe BHA Smoothing Serum
"A Gel-type serum that helps in recovering roughened and sensitive skin, contains natural BHA and aloe, excellent for calming skin." To be honest I was less than excited about trying this one out after the disappointment of the tea tree serum. The packaging (light blue) also seemed duller and less exciting than the others in the Neulii stable. But boy was I wrong. this product is ah-mazing! The texture of this is much more jelly-like so it worked wonders on The Skin That Keeps On Drinking. I still use a cotton pad for this although I would recommend tapping this onto your skin rather than wiping it like you would with a more runny serum. Thoughts: After just a few days of using this, my skin was so smooth and I found my craters for pores diminished significantly. Breakouts were minimal and any redness disappeared. I'm not saying this is a cure-all for all your skin ailments, but being able to see and feel a noticeable difference is all I can ask for in a product. Again I do believe this serum can be used on a range of skin types, and it's fast absorbing ability means you spend less time waiting around for it to dry. I believe these babies haven't been released for sale yet and so I'm not sure of the pricing of these but currently you can request samples from their website. I haven't had the pleasure of trying the other types in the range but I'm not sure I need to now that I've been thoroughly impressed with the Aloe one. I still have a full bottle of Missha's Time Revolution Essence to get through but if the offerings of Neulii are anything to go by, I already have high expectations. Until next time, Kiwi Girl xx I very rarely buy off eBay because I have an irrational fear that somehow I'll be scammed and someone will run away with my money. Although I suppose there are much more worthwhile customers than scamming a lowly student, but maybe beggars can't be choosers. However after having made a lengthy list of some more Korean products I wanted to try out, eBay seemed like the most affordable option to feed my beauty hunger. I liked the prices I saw on testerkorea, but with the amount of stuff I was buying, shipping (based on weight) would cost a bomb. So eBay it was, which came with free standard shipping that would roughly take 3-8 weeks to arrive. I decided to place my first order with the seller rubyruby76 (who also has a website named roseroseshop) based on the huge amount of positive reviews. I was pleasantly surprised when a package arrived on my doorstep in Auckland just 10 working days after I had placed the order. Everything was wrapped nicely and although they don't have a free sample policy, they chucked in some samples of their new skincare line, Neulii. The next seller I placed my order with was f2plus1. This one is even more established on eBay than rubyruby76 but I did find they were just a tiny bit more pricier for some products at least. However it's good to check out both stores because each has products the other doesn't. I was equally impressed with this seller's fast shipping, I also received the package within 10 working days after I placed the order. I know I would have received more free samples here if I hadn't divided my order between the two sellers but I wanted to try both out and ultimately I saved some dosh in the process #winning. So I now have even more products to try out over the next few months but I'm sooo not complaining! I've actually opened a few of the products already and I'll be posting my short reviews in the coming days. I've had a few hits and misses, but so far my obsession with all things Korean beauty-related has not lost its steam!
Lots of love, Kiwi Girl xx Welcome to my corner, where I get to indulge in all things beauty-related without judgment from Kampung Boy =) For my first post I thought I'd share my purchases from a recent trip to Kuala Lumpur. Now I have to be honest about something. For most of my life I've treated Asian beauty products with derision and disdain, believing such products were sub-standard and cheap. I guess it was because a lot of the time I couldn't take the cutesy packaging seriously and perhaps I was just ignorant about Asia in general. I know it seems odd that as an Asian myself, I should be buying products that are catered for Asian faces. But in my (stupid) belief, I felt that the Western world were lightyears ahead of anything Asians could produce. Boy had I ever been more wrong. I'm not really sure the point where I suddenly became a champion of Korean beauty products, but as I walked around Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur I couldn't help but be intrigued at the TonyMoly and Etude House that had just moved in. So of course I made a cursory google search on whether these brands were any good (my expectations at an all time low), but instead I was blown away at the rave reviews and the fanatic following Korean cosmetics and skincare. Which leads me to here, after having trawled through the main Korean "roadshops" in Kuala Lumpur, I've come back to New Zealand with a bag full of must-haves to test and review. Left to Right: Innisfree Capsule Sleeping Pack (Rice); Innisfree Super volcanic pore clay mask; Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in PK002; Etude House Beauty Shot Face Blur; Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion in Natural Beige; Innisfree Apple Juicy Emulsion Lip & Eye Remover; Innisfree Wine Jelly Sleeping Pack; Innisfree Orchid Enriched Cream (sample); Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in PK018; Innisfree The green tea seed serum; Skinfood Strawberry Black Sugar Mask Wash-off; and Innisfree Capsule Massage Pack (Canola Honey). So as you can see there are a lot of products to get through! I'm looking forward to trying these out to determine if Korean beauty products are the real deal and if they make any difference on my skin.
