I mentioned previously that I received a couple of samples from the lovely people at Rose Rose Shop along with my order on eBay. Now I'm a total newbie when it comes to the world of essences as part of a skincare routine. I only just discovered these magic elixirs when I tried Estee Lauder's Micro Essence Skin Activating Treatment Lotion (which might I add, is totally worth it if you have an arm and a leg to spare!). When To Use: Essences tend to be used after toning if you're subscribing to the whole Korean skincare ritual. However I prefer to use this in place of toner (mostly because I ain't got no time to be slathering on lotion after potion) so long as it's done after I've double cleansed. This ensures your skin is super clean and ready to absorb all the nutrients from the essence. So anyway after having been blown away but the effect essences have on my skin tone and texture, I was really excited to try what upcoming brand Neulii has to offer. I received two kinds: Teatree BHA Blemish Control Serum "A Serum containing natural BHA and tea tree ingredient, arranging sebum control and dead skin cells to prevent skin trouble." I was looking forward to trying this out first because, although I hate to admit it, at 24 I still get breakouts particularly around my chin when that time of the month rolls around. So I was hoping this serum would act as a preventive measure from this month's war on my face. The serum reminds me of a classic toner, it's a lot more runny and hence easier to spread on a cotton pad. There isn't a strong smell at all, and you don't need a lot to cover your face. Thoughts: Unfortunately I didn't see too much of a difference in my skin to rave home about. I did however feel my skin was a lot softer after use and my dry, sensitive skin lapped up the moisture it provided. So although it's targeted at oily skin, I would think it's gentle enough to use on all skin types. Aloe BHA Smoothing Serum
"A Gel-type serum that helps in recovering roughened and sensitive skin, contains natural BHA and aloe, excellent for calming skin." To be honest I was less than excited about trying this one out after the disappointment of the tea tree serum. The packaging (light blue) also seemed duller and less exciting than the others in the Neulii stable. But boy was I wrong. this product is ah-mazing! The texture of this is much more jelly-like so it worked wonders on The Skin That Keeps On Drinking. I still use a cotton pad for this although I would recommend tapping this onto your skin rather than wiping it like you would with a more runny serum. Thoughts: After just a few days of using this, my skin was so smooth and I found my craters for pores diminished significantly. Breakouts were minimal and any redness disappeared. I'm not saying this is a cure-all for all your skin ailments, but being able to see and feel a noticeable difference is all I can ask for in a product. Again I do believe this serum can be used on a range of skin types, and it's fast absorbing ability means you spend less time waiting around for it to dry. I believe these babies haven't been released for sale yet and so I'm not sure of the pricing of these but currently you can request samples from their website. I haven't had the pleasure of trying the other types in the range but I'm not sure I need to now that I've been thoroughly impressed with the Aloe one. I still have a full bottle of Missha's Time Revolution Essence to get through but if the offerings of Neulii are anything to go by, I already have high expectations. Until next time, Kiwi Girl xx
